Did you know that 40% of the food in the United States is wasted while 1 in 8 Americans struggle to put food on the table? 94% of the food thrown away ends up in landfills and generates methane gas 86 times more powerful than carbon dioxide.

The goal of this project was to design an intervention that nudges people to change a certain behavior. By creating Refridge (a set of labels you put directly in your fridge) it helps to reduce food waste on the consumer level. Fridge shelves slightly vary in temperature, making each shelf optimal for a specific food group. Organizing your fridge by these sections will keep your food fresher longer, saving you money and also helping the planet. Each label comes with a secondary set of labels that you install right on your shelves. These help remind you how to sort the items in your fridge, placing larger items in the back and smaller in the front. That way you can see everything at once, avoiding forgetfulness and duplicates.
